The CAC members can now pre-order their 2012/13 Entertainment Book! 

Linda and I went down to Campbells Cove at The Rocks tonight to watch a live episode of the Breakfast Television show go to air. We met up with Janina from BT who was coordinating the activities, and we got to watch a couple of short segments being shot.

The club recently received an email from one of the producers of Breakfast Television Toronto. It seems that they are doing a segment about Australia, and will be shooting it live in Sydney on the evening of Tuesday May 15.  They have invited club members to come down to the shoot, hang out, and say hi to friends and family back at home.

Hi everyone, after a one year sabbatical from the CAC committee – I’m back! I’ve worn many hats over my time here with the club – committee member, Newsletter Editor and President. And now I’m back to help with Membership. While we no longer have a full blown newsletter each month – we do try to bring you all some news about the club. So, I wanted to let you know… We’ve had a marriage and most recently a marriage proposal in our club. Firstly, after 9 years together Mick Patterson and I tied the knot in November last year. And on Valentine’s Day this year, Chris Betcher and Linda Johannesson got engaged. I also want to say welcome to some of our new members: Nick & Roma. Nick was born in the small town of Lac Megantic in the Eastern Townships in Quebec. He left for Beijing in 2005 to study Mandarin and then settled and worked there for 5 years first as a Business Consultant with the Canada China Business Council and later on for a Canadian engineering firm building Winter Sport Facilities. While in Beijing Nick met his Australian partner Roma. After 3 years of shared life in Beijing, Roma convinced Nick to make a move to Sydney, arriving for Christmas 2011. Nick & Roma are residing in Baulkham Hills with Roma’s family. Nick advises he is actively looking to get back to work and hope to eventually to settle in a more central location near the City. When asked why Nick decided to join the CAC his response was… “I still have everything to discover about Sydney and hope the Club can help me learn more about this great country and by meeting other fellow Canadians I am hoping it will help me feel closer to home.” Jaylene & Adam - first moved to Perth from Vancouver, Canada at the end of Aug of 2011. Jaylene's fiance Adam got a job opportunity there as a project manager for a crane company. He was then given the opportunity to move to Sydney in December to be a contracts manager for a different crane company. His job is going great and they love Sydney. Jaylene is now looking for an HR Administrator role here in Sydney. Jaylene & Adam are renting an apartment in Breakfast Point and are looking forward to meeting some more Canadians. Andrew & Jayln - moved to Sydney this year because they wanted to try somewhere new, and Sydney was the first place to offer one of them a job! Jalyn grew up in Dundas, Ontario, but is a Calgarian at heart after living most of her adult life there. Andrew is originally from Brisbane, but is also an adopted Calgarian after living many years there. Most recently they were in Chicago, where they moved in 2010. They are living on the harbour in Drummoyne, which by lovely coincidence is part of the city of Canada Bay! Have you ever wondered what happens to all those Batlow apples that don't get purchased in the fruit stores here in Oz? Well, Batlow now have produced Batlow Premium Cider made from all the apples they can't sell. A great sustainability initiative from somebody who obviously looked at the tonnes of fruit being wasted and said, what if they could do something with them? The cider contains no concentrate or added sugars, is gluten free and is making good use of what would be a wasted product otherwise.
