Saying goodbye to The Official Residence

It is with great sadness to advise that the Canadian Government has successfully sold The Official Residence. It was originally purchased for approximately 35,000 pounds in the mid-1960s and has sold for approximately $9.5 million (or at least that was the listing price). Although 12 Wentworth Road will surely be missed, we look forward to the next Official Residence!

Saying goodbye to Mario Ste-Marie

We would like to take this opportunity to say goodbye to Mario Ste-Marie, Consul General of Canada. Mario has completed his tenure in Australia and has accepted his next placement in Taipei Taiwan! Congratulations Mario on your new placement and we wish you all the best in Taiwan.

Whilst the Canadian Government sources a new Consul General of Canada, we are pleased to advise that Marie-Louise Hannan, Senior Trade Commissioner will be the Acting Consul General and no doubt, Marie-Louise will do an exceptional job whilst in her position!

Call for Volunteers!

For those who are unaware, we have held over a dozen events this year which has included, but was not limited to: nature walks, bowling, pancake day, Canada Day, a day at the races, attending movies, ice skating and our regular monthly mixers. Each event takes time and effort to plan, co-ordinate and attend. The CAC is looking for more social event volunteers for next year’s executive committee so we can continue to hold bigger and better events each year moving forward. If you are interested in being part of the executive committee, please enquire with us as the more the merrier!

Call for Executive Committee Members

Damin, Katie, Colin, Mark and Kim make up the current executive committee. Each of the positions held are open for elections and we are keen in having new and old members enquire into becoming part of the executive committee. Please contact Damin on 0422 730 999 or enquire by email at dmurdock@mclp.com.au if you’re interested in joining the executive committee.
