VETERAN Canadian troubadour Leonard Cohen is returning to Australia in November for a national tour.

The revered 78-year-old singer songwriter, author of Suzanne, Hallelujah and Famous Blue Raincoat, among many others, will perform in state capitals, but also at regional venues in Cairns, Wollongong and Townsville.

In addition Cohen and his nine-piece band will play two winery shows, part of the annual A Day on the Green series of concerts, in Geelong and the Hunter Valley.

Cohen last performed here in 2010, on a tour that included a show at Hanging Rock in Victoria. His 2013 visit begins in Perth on November 13.
